Fred Davies
Fred Davies was born and raised in Port Colborne. As a graduate of Brock University, Fred spent the early part of his career in Ottawa in legislative positions in the House of Commons. He returned to Port Colborne to create the first economic development officer position with the city and has been involved in community development for many years having sat on countless boards and community organizations over several decades.
Fred has an extensive background in business in Niagara Centre having created and operated several companies in the manufacturing sector in Welland and St. Catharines.
As President of the Niagara Business & Innovation Fund, Fred has helped and mentored numerous businesses start, grow and create jobs here in Niagara. The NBIF now invests in innovative start ups in southwestern Ontario through the Angel investment community with Fred as CEO. With his wife Monica, Fred has also co-founded several successful businesses in the food and beverage sector including San Marco’s Ristorante and the Breakwall Brewing Company in downtown Port Colborne contributing to the diversification of the local economy.
Fred was twice elected as Trustee to the former Niagara South Board of Education and the District School Board of Niagara. He was a founding member of the Niagara Health System Foundation, a board member of Pathstone Mental Health, and currently sits on the board of Bridges Community Health. As an advocate and community builder, Fred was the Charter President of the Rotary Club of Port Colborne and is a Paul Harris Fellow.
In business, Fred knows the struggles of building a business from the ground up and understands the challenges that face real people in real life. His experience on the ground level in business development and finance in both the public and private sectors brings a new and stronger voice to Queen’s Park.
